History

Mustard Seed has been an integral part of the Yongsan Garrison Base Chapel since 1976, where DoD and U.S. Embassy families have chosen to send their 3 and 4 year old children for Christian Preschool. This program has attracted highly educated spouses of those assigned to Yongsan Base as teachers, and has seen generations of young children better prepared for Kindergarten and Elementary School through a Christian educational curriculum tested and improved upon over a period of 40 years!

Mustard Seed Christian Preschool entered its second phase in 2013, as the Yongsan Garrison prepares to move south to Camp Humphreys. In order to assure the continuation of the Mustard Seed Program at Yongsan, the Garrison chose Seoul International Baptist Church (SIBC) as the second home for the Program. SIBC is located next to Yongsan Garrison, and it has been a “home away from home” for U.S. Military members as well as DoD civilians and U.S. Embassy personnel and their families for many years. When Mustard Seed Christian Preschool began at SIBC all facets of the Program remained the same–from the curriculum and U.S. teachers to the loving care provided to the Preschoolers, with only the location changed.
